Myrtle Beach Championship Drift Series

Myrtle Beach Championship Drift Series

The Sport:

Drifting is a driving technique that is commonly associated with high-horsepower rear-wheel-drive cars, in which the drivers purposely loose traction to the rear wheels while steering, often pushing their cars sideways around corners while creating a good amount of tire smoke. The technique has its roots in Japan, but over the years it has become quite popular in the United States, for both drivers and spectators.

The Event:

The first drift event at the Myrtle Beach Speedway was in April of 2006, and due to the success of that first event, subsequent events were held every Wednesday night throughout the summer. Five seasons later it is still a popular attraction, and is a must-see for anyone into racing and automobiles.

With the proper safety equipment and $75, anyone is allowed to enter their car into the event. (Full requirements.)

Spectator cost is $10.00, riders are an additional $5.00, and Children 12 and under are free.
