Despite low offensive numbers, Waccamaw defeated the St. James Sharks
Friday night 14-6 to improve to 2-0 on the season. The St. James defense held the Warriors to 79 total yards of offense on four first downs but struggled on offense.
first on an 11-yard run by Jalen Simmons in the second quarter. Simmons
would later make the score 14-0 in the third quarter on a 2-yard run.
James rallied in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to eight but
Waccamaw was able to hold off the Sharks to secure the victory. On a
side note, Waccamaw, starting quarterback Alex Burdette left the game in
the second quarter with a shoulder injury. The team is awaiting word
on the extent of the injury.
Next week St. James will take on Carolina Forest at home.
