Racing begins in April and runs through September every Saturday night. The asphalt track is .538 miles in length and features street stock, late models, mini-stocks, limiteds, and super truck racing. Local Saturday night event tickets are $12/person and children ages 10 & under are admitted free. The grandstands open at 4 p.m. on Saturday night with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.

Myrtle Beach Motor Sports lets the average person experience what it is like to drive a race car. The driving experience takes place at the Myrtle Beach Speedway. All participants must be 18 and have a valid driver’s license to participate. Different driving packages are available and ride along packages are available for children ages 12 & under.

Beach & Pier Fishing

Fishing is allowed on the beaches of Horry County. As of July 1st, 2009, any person fishing from a South Carolina beach is required to have a fishing license. Annual and temporary passes are available for purchase for both residents and non-residents of South Carolina.

The Grand Strand is home to eight piers. Each pier charges a daily or annual fishing fee. Rod rentals & bait are also available at most piers. Coastal Carolina University Athletics

Located in Conway, the university is home to several NCAA Division 1 athletic teams competing in the Big South Conference, including men’s baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and track & field. Women’s sports include basketball, softball, soccer, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. The Chanticleer football team is very popular along the Grand Strand and competes in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision.

The Pelicans team originated in 1999 as part of the Carolina League. They are a Single-A minor league team for the Atlanta Braves. The Pelicans’ season begins in April and ends in early September. Individual game tickets begin at just $7 and most games feature a themed promotion with free giveaways to the first 1,000 fans through the gates. Season ticket packages and suite packages are also available.

The gymnasium is open Monday-Saturday and recently underwent a $6 million renovation and expansion. The gymnasium is located on the former site of the Air Force Base in Grand Park and features an indoor basketball court, two racquetball courts, weight room, cardio & circuit equipment, meeting room, and more. The Grand Strand Recreation Complex is also a part of the gymnasium and features an outdoor inline hockey rink, baseball fields, picnic shelters, and a walking path. Annual, monthly, or daily membership passes are available for purchase for use of the workout facilities in the building for individuals & families.
