The 11th Annual Guy Daniels Memorial Surfoff began Saturday, August 14th at 13th Avenue South in Surfside Beach.

The Guy Daniels Memorial Foundation is named after Surfside Beach native Guy Daniels.  An avid surfer, Daniels collapsed on the beach while jogging in 1999.  The non-profit foundation is dedicated to the protection of the ocean and beaches through various conservation projects and also awards scholarships to local students.

The event continues tomorrow, Sunday, August 15th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  An awards ceremony will follow the surfoff around 5 p.m. on the beach Sunday.
