The 10th annual Guy Daniels Memorial Surf Off, in conjunction with the First Annual Ocean Expo, took place in Surfside Beach Saturday, August 15 and will continue into Sunday between 13th Avenue South and Melody Lane.

The Ocean Expo started at 9 a.m. and allowed local water sport vendors a chance to showcase their products and services.  Products displayed included sailboats, stand-up paddle boards, and of course, surfboards.  The Surfside Police Department also demonstrated a water rescue.

The Surf-Off competition began at 7 a.m. and continued until 5 p.m. Saturday.  The Surf-Off begins at 9 a.m. Sunday morning and concludes at 4 p.m.  The competitors in the 14 divisions of the Surf-Off came out ready to show their skills. The Surf-Off supports scholarships for local students and an annual Lifeguard of the Year award.
