Sun Fun Festival

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Sun Fun Festival will take place June 4th-8th, 2009 at Grand Park across from The Market Common and throughout the Grand Strand. The annual festival marks the beginning of summer along the Grand Strand and features free concerts, family activities, food vendors, watercraft demonstrations, a Miss Sun Fun pageant, games, beach activities, fireworks and more.

Highlights of this year’s festival include:

H2X Racing’s APBA Nationals Pebble Beach

Located beachfront between Damon’s Oceanfront Restaurant and the Springmaid Beach Resort, spectators can watch free-style jet ski competitions Friday & Saturday, June 5th & 6th. Hours of the demonstrations are 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday.

Food & Beverage Vendors

New this year, food and beverage vendors will be open on Friday, June 5th beginning at 5 p.m. in Grand Park.

Too Much Sylvia Concert

The free concert will take place Friday, June 5th at 7 p.m. on the Main Stage in Grand Park and will feature beach, funk, 60’s, 70’s, and rock music.

Apache Pier King Mackerel Tournament

The fishing tournament will take place Saturday, June 6th from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Apache Pier. Pre-registration is required. For more information regarding the tournament, please call 843-497-6486.

Arts & Crafts Vendors

Arts & crafts vendors will open their booths Saturday, June 6th at 10 a.m. in Grand Park. There will also be inflatable rides and games for children in the Kids’ Zone area of the park.

14th Annual Corvette Car Show

The car show will be held Saturday, June 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Broadway At The Beach parking lot next to the Hard Rock Café.

Celebrity Meet & Greet

From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th, Jason Earles of the popular Disney television show Hannah Montana will be signing autographs in Tent #2 in the Kids’ Zone area of Grand Park.

Celebrity Meet & Greet

American Idol champion, Blake Lewis will be signing autographs for fans on Saturday, June 6th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Tent #3 near the Main Stage in Grand Park.

Miss Sun Fun & Miss Sun Fun Teen Pageant

The annual pageant will take place Saturday, June 6th at 7 p.m. in the Myrtle Beach High School auditorium. There is an admission fee to watch the pageant.

Lifehouse Concert

The free concert will take place Saturday, June 6th at 7 p.m. in Grand Park on the Main Stage; admission is free.

Fireworks

Fireworks will take place Saturday, June 6th at 9 p.m. immediately following the Lifehouse concert.

Hawaiian Rumble Child/Adult Mini-Golf Team Contest

The mini-golf competition will take place Monday, June 8th from 9 a.m. to Noon at Hawaiian Rumble Mini-Golf in North Myrtle Beach. Admission is $5/team and prizes will be awarded to the competition winners.

Surfside Beach Kids Fair

The event is open to children ages 10 & under and will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 8th in Fuller Park in Surfside Beach. Music will be provided by DJ Jeff Benton and the event will feature free pizza, ice cream, face painting, inflatable rides, games, and more!
