Myrtle Beach MayFest 2010

The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the city of Myrtle Beach will host four unique events throughout the month of May.

Art & Film Celebration

Saturday, May 1st
10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Former Myrtle Square Mall Site
Free Admission

The Art & Film Celebration Festival is an extension of the first annual F.A.M.E. Festival that will take place on April 24th. The Art & Film Celebration will feature free outdoor movie screenings, live entertainment, celebrity meet & greets, craft vendors, food vendors, and more. Listed below is the schedule of events for the festival.

  • 10:30 a.m. - Free outdoor screening of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Free celebrity meet & greet with Catherine Bell from Army Wives

  • Noon to 3 p.m. - Free celebrity meet & greet with Alex Meraz from The Twilight Saga: New Moon & Eclipse

  • Noon to 3 p.m. - Free character meet & greet with Barbie

  • Noon to 5 p.m. - Free character meet & greet with Spiderman

  • 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. - Free live entertainment from Shrimp City Slim (Lowcountry blues performance)

  • 3:30 p.m. - Free outdoor screening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon

  • 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - Free live entertainment by Tinsley Ellis (blues/rock performance)

  • 8:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. - Free live entertainment by five-time Grammy Award winner Buddy Guy (blues performance)

  • Fireworks will immediately follow the last performance of the evening.

Beach Music Festival

Saturday, May 15th
10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Ocean Blvd. between 8th & 9th Ave. North
Free Admission

The Beach Music Festival will help kickoff the Grand Opening Ceremony for the new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. The festival will feature several live beach music performances, arts & craft vendors, food, vendors, fireworks, and more.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new boardwalk will take place at Noon.

Musicians scheduled to perform include Ben E. King, Billy Scott & the Party Prophets, The Cornell Gunter Coasters, The Embers, Jim Quick & Coastline, Mark Roberts and Breeze, and Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs.

Buddy Valastro, The Cake Boss, from the popular TLC television show, will also be at the festival attempting to create a gigantic flip-flop cake.

Beach Blast! Christian Music Festival

Saturday, May 22nd
2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Former Myrtle Square Mall Site

Myrtle Beach's largest Christian Music Festival will feature performances by TobyMac, Kutless, The Afters, and KJ-52. David Nasser will be the special guest speaker. Advance adult tickets are $25 and adult tickets the day of the concert are $30. Group and family pack ticket packages are also available.

Memorial Day Weekend Festival

Saturday, May 29th
2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Former Myrtle Square Mall Site

Prior to the start of activities for the festival at 2 p.m., there will be a Memorial Day parade between 27th Avenue North and 9th Avenue North along Ocean Boulevard at 10:30 a.m. The Celebrity Grand Marshall will be astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The parade will feature floats, giant helium-filled balloons, marching & military bands, non-profit organizations, veterans groups, and more.

Headlining the concert performances for the Memorial Day Festival is American Idol Season Six Winner, Jordin Sparks. Other performances will include Mitchel Musso, Oliver on Hannah Montana, Jasmine Richards, Peggy on Camp Rock, Savannah Outen from Radio Disney, and Drake Bell, Drake on Drake and Josh.
