Looking for something to do along the Grand Strand over Labor Day Weekend? Listed below are a variety of activities happening around the Grand Strand during Labor Day Weekend.

Beach Boogie & BBQ Festival

The annual festival begins at 5 p.m. Friday, September 4th at Valor Park. Craft & food vendors open at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. food from the BBQ competitors goes on sale. At 7 p.m., The Tams will perform a free concert on the Main Stage.

On Saturday, September 6th, the South Carolina Official Barbecue Championships & Kansas City Barbecue Society Cook-Off begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m. Awards will be handed out at 5 p.m. on the Main Stage. The cook-off is free for all spectators.

Craft and food vendors open at 10 a.m., along with the Kid’s Zone are of the festival. BBQ food will go on sale at 11 a.m.

The 4th Annual Wheels on the Beach Car Show will begin at 10:00 a.m. along Farrow Parkway. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Special Olympics of Horry County. Awards will be handed out at 3 p.m. on the Car Show Stage. For more information about car show registration, contact the Myrtle Beach Car Club.

Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs will perform at a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Stage. Fireworks will follow the concert at 9 p.m.

Summer Send-Off Celebration

Broadway at the Beach will host a Summer Send-Off Celebration Friday, September 4th - Sunday, September 6th. The event will feature sidewalk sales daily along with a children’s activities area.

Friday evening, Crocodile Rocks will have their dueling pianos show set up in Celebrity Square at 7 p.m. Saturday evening will feature a fashion show at 5 p.m., mascot parade at 7 p.m., and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Myrtle Beach Pelicans vs. Winston-Salem Dash

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will wrap up their 2009 season with four home games Friday, September 4th - Monday, September 7th. Games begin at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Saturday, & Monday night and at 6:05 p.m. Sunday evening.

  • Friday, September 4th - the first 1,000 fans will receive a free Pelicans hat
  • Saturday, September 5th - Inflatamaniacs appearance
  • Sunday, September 6th - Fireworks Night
  • Monday, September 7th - Fireworks Night

Ocean Boulevard Entertainment & Firworks

Soul Function will perform Friday, September 4th from 8 p.m. to midnight at Plyler Park on Ocean Boulevard. Hot Sauce will perform Saturday night, beginning at 8 p.m. Fireworks will be shot off over the 2nd Avenue Pier Saturday night beginning at 9:30 p.m.; weather permitting.

Summer Breeze Music Fest

La Belle Amie Vineyards in North Myrtle Beach will host the musical festival Saturday, September 5th from Noon to 5 p.m. The day will feature live music, craft vendors, a tour of the vineyard, and wine sampling. Admission is $8/person and is free for those under 18. Bring a canned good donation and receive $3 off the price of admission.

Surfside Beach End of Summer Celebration

Surfside Beach will host an End of Summer Celebration, Sunday, September 6th at the Pier and along the beach. The event will feature a volleyball tournament at 9 a.m. on the beach; registration begins at 8 a.m. Other beach games will begin at 11 a.m. and Sea Cruz will perform at 5 p.m.
