The Horry County Arts & Cultural Council will host the 2nd Annual Fabulous 50's Festival March 19th-27th. An array of events are planned for this year's festival throughout the Myrtle Beach area.

Listed below is the schedule of events:

Friday, March 19th

Junior Sock Hop, 3 p.m.
Elvis and Buddy Holly will make an appearance at the Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. The event will provide a cultural education experience for children and will also feature hula hoop contests, bubble gum blowing contests, and dance contests.

Saturday, March 20th

Conway Equinox, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Create! Conway will hold a festival in downtown Conway celebrating 50 Fabulous Artists. The festival will feature visual art exhibits and live music.

Third Annual Myrtle Beach Preliminary Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist™ Contest (licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.), 7 p.m.

Presented by Legends in Concert, Elvis tribute artists will compete by showcasing their best representation of the legacy of Elvis Pressley. The winner of the competition will receive $1,000 and will also be eligible to compete for the title of Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist of the Year in Memphis in August. Portions of the ticket sales from this event will benefit the Horry County Arts & Cultural Council.

Wednesday, March 24th

Performance Art by Terry Brennan, 2:30 p.m.
Terry Brennan will create art from "found" objects at the NMB Library. Terry's creation will be donated to the Horry County Arts & Cultural Council to be used as a silent auction item.

Friday, March 26th

Fabulous 50's Sock Hop, 7:30 p.m.
Held at 2001 Nightclub, the Sock Hop will feature 50's music, dancing, hula hoop contests, 50's impersonators, and more! Tickets are $25 in advance and include a one-year membership to the Horry County Arts & Cultural Council. Tickets are $35 at the door. To purchase advance tickets, please call 843-467-6742.

Saturday, March 27th

Fabulous 50's Family Fling, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
New to the festival this year is the Family Fling at Broadway at the Beach. The day will include children's activities, exhibits, entertainment by local & regional artists, a car show, inflatables, pony rides, and food. The day will also feature a Junior Elvis competition, sponsored by Legends in Concert, and is open to children ages 17 & younger.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Horry County Arts & Cultural Council. Founded in 2005 by a group of volunteers, the Arts Council's goal was to create a county-wide service agency capable of enriching the quality of life in the communities of the Grand Strand while supporting economic development through cultural tourism.

Throughout their history, the Horry County Arts & Cultural Council has awarded numerous grants to local artists and has also created and implemented the Artist in Schools Program. For more information about the Horry County Arts & Cultural Council, please call Sandi Kendrick at 843-467-6742.
