Pawleys Island, South Carolina is located 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach at the southern end of the Grand Strand in Georgetown County. The barrier island is less than four miles in length and is a picture perfect summer resort town for families. Known for their famous and comfortable hammocks, the island has adopted the motto of being "arrogantly shabby" and features a carefree, laid back style of life.
Connected to the mainland by two causeways, the actual island has a ban on commercial & industrial industry, minus a few inns and a condominium complex. Vacation rentals are available on the island through the Sea View Inn, Pawleys Pier Village, and numerous residential vacation homes.
The beach area of Pawleys Island features many family oriented activities such as crabbing, shelling, biking, kayaking, etc. Fishing is available in the surf and from two marsh bridges.
