Founded in 1732 as the village of Kingston, the town of Conway was renamed in 1883 in honor of General Robert Conway and is considered one of the oldest cities in South Carolina.

Located in Horry County, Conway is one of the towns that make up part of the Grand Strand near Myrtle Beach. Today, Conway is the county seat of Horry County and is home to around 13,000 residents.

Rivertown Music & Arts Festival

Spring 2010

The annual festival is held each spring in downtown Conway and is hosted by Conway Main Street USA. The event features jazz & blues musicians, local artists, local food and more.

Riverfest

Held near the end of June and close to July 4th, this Independence Celebration is held along the Waccamaw River and throughout downtown Conway. The annual community celebration features live entertainment, an artisans market, fireworks, boat rides, train rides, games, a tennis tournament, etc.

Downtown Conway

Created in 1986 by a group of local citizens, Conway Main Street USA has worked to spur the economic development and historic preservation of downtown Conway, making it a great stop on a tour of the Grand Strand. The downtown area of Conway features shopping, art studios & galleries, fine dining restaurants, the Riverwalk, and more. The Riverwalk is a scenic walk along a stretch of the Waccamaw River.

Located in Conway and only nine miles from Myrtle Beach, the university features 40 baccalaureate programs and has acclaimed programs in marine science, professional golf management, and resort tourism. 37 undergraduate minors are offered through the college. Enrollment in the fall of 2008 exceeded 8,000 students.
